The Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy/Head of the Tourism and Creative Economy Agency Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated that the delegates attending the 2022 Tourism Ministerial Meeting had reached a consensus to support the "G20 Bali Guideline", an agreement that will serve as a guide for member countries G20 to international organizations in promoting the recovery of global tourism.

Menparekraf Sandiaga in the Press Conference of the Ministers of the G20 Member States, which took place on Monday (26/9/2022) at the Grand Hyatt Bali, Nusa Dua, Bali said that the Bali Guidelines are a very fundamental document agreement in the revival of a more inclusive tourism sector. and sustainable. Through strengthening communities and SMEs as agents of tourism transformation.

"We had a Tourism Ministerial Meeting and we can say astungkara, thank God we agreed on the Bali Guidelines. What is very interesting from the previous discussion (TMM) is about employment. How jobs in the tourism sector are not only empowering jobs, but jobs that must be of quality, must be good jobs, which provide increased income and community welfare, "said Menparekraf Sandiaga.

The Menparekraf said that the G20 Bali Guideline would be brought at the peak of the G20 Summit on November 15-16, 2022 to be followed up and forwarded to the next G20 chaired by India.

Plt. Deputy for Institutional Resources at the Ministry of Tourism and Creative Economy, Frans Teguh, added that according to what was conveyed by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, the G20 Bali Guideline is an important document that will become a reference for G20 countries. In the future, it will be adopted and then developed in accordance with the authority of each country.

“In this guideline, we also engage our attention to the development of small islands, including tourist villages. I think that is the frame that becomes the point or concrete contribution of Indonesia as the Presidency in 2022," said Frans.

The Bali Guideline contains five action plans that were previously discussed at The 1st and 2nd Tourism Working Group, which have been discussed for more than a year in collaboration with G20 member countries and UNWTO.

These five lines of action include human capital related to work, skills, entrepreneurship, and education. Also related to how tourism human resources can see the needs and wants of the market, create new jobs, and bring added value from their products or services.

Second, innovation, digitalization, and the creative economy. Focus on how the community is able to be more innovative, creative, and adaptive in entering the digital economy ecosystem order so that creative economy actors can reach a wider market.

Third, women and youth empowerment. Where the empowerment of women and the younger generation has an important role in the future recovery and resilience of the tourism sector and the creative economy.

"Our attention to young people and women in the tourism sector really must be able to provide opportunities for the millennial generation and also women. Because statistical data shows that more than 45 percent of the workforce in the tourism sector is dominated by women and I think this is a very important opportunity,” said Frans.

Fourth, climate action, biodiversity conservations, and a circular economy, where the use of energy, land, water, and food resources in the tourism sector can reduce carbon emissions.

“Our framework can strengthen environmental and conservation action plans. So this is actually in line with Indonesia's vision of encouraging more quality and sustainable tourism, especially with the development of our tourist villages," said Frans.

And finally, the policy framework, governance, and investment, with a focus on making tourism policies and steps more holistic to support the four pillars of the line of action.

"We hope that this will at the same time strengthen our drive that Indonesia and the G20 countries have a strong side to focus on the community as an important pillar in the development of tourism and the creative economy," he said.

The TMM activity was attended by 150 delegates from 35 representatives including G20 member countries, guest countries, and international organizations. Some of the delegates will enliven the World Tourism Day event which will take place on Tuesday (27/9/2022) in Bali. (VOI)
